Golden Tail Eel

The Golden Tail Moray Eel, native to the warm Caribbean waters, boasts an olive-colored body adorned with countless star-like white and yellow specks. Its distinctive tail features subtle yellow shading.

While the Golden Tail Moray Eel tends to be rather reclusive, it can deliver a painful bite when provoked. To ensure their well-being, it’s advisable to house them alongside larger, more aggressive fish and provide ample anchored live rock for shelter. A secure tank with well-sealed overflows and lids is essential. It’s generally recommended to keep only one Golden Tail Moray Eel per tank, as they are not suitable for reef setups. To ensure proper feeding, use a feeding stick to deliver food directly to the eel.

These eels have a diverse diet, consuming various meaty foods such as fish, shrimp, squid, and select frozen prepared foods. Utilizing a long feeding rod can help establish a feeding routine, allowing them to associate mealtime cues for better care.
