Porcelain Crab (Petrolisthes galathinus)

Porcelain Crabs, Petrolisthes galathinus, typically reside in pairs within anemones, which offer them protection. They defend themselves against predators using their large claws and often compete with clownfish for anemones, though clownfish usually prevail in this rivalry.

These crabs are distinguished by their striking marbled red and white bodies, complemented by light blue accents and prominent pincers. They are social creatures, often found grazing on live rock and sand for plankton or algae. In cases where natural food is scarce, they can be supplemented with meaty foods and will help clean up leftovers from other tank inhabitants. Porcelain Crabs thrive best in aquariums that have abundant live rock and a sandy substrate.
