Dwarf Seahorse (Hippocampus zosterae)

$8.99$29.99

Dwarf Seahorses, Hippocampus Zosterae, typically measure between 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches in length. For their care, a sponge filter is recommended to maintain the low current saltwater environment they prefer, as strong currents can stress them. A general guideline for tank capacity is to house about 4 dwarf seahorses per gallon of water. Suitable decorations for their saltwater aquarium include Gorgonians, Sponges, and Macro Algae, which provide ideal surfaces for them to latch onto with their prehensile tails. However, be cautious with live rock or sand, as they may harbor stinging animals. It’s important to note that dwarf seahorses are not reef safe, as corals may harm them, although Gorgonian Coral is an exception.

Compatible tank mates include Snails, small Hermit Crabs, Starfish, and Pipefish, but care should be taken to ensure these do not outcompete the seahorses for food.

Dwarf seahorses feed on Tigger Pods, newly hatched brine shrimp, copepods, and other shrimp larvae.
