This Yellow Gorgonian, scientifically known as Diodogorgia nodulifera, stands out as one of the most resilient gorgonians available. Native to the Caribbean, it comes in two primary color variations: Yellow and Red. The Yellow variant features a bright yellow hue with red calyces and white polyps when extended, while the Red variant is dark red with white polyps.
As filter feeders, these gorgonians require strong water flow and regular feedings of invertebrates. They can be directly fed using a turkey baster or a large feeding syringe when their polyps are open. They don’t depend on light for growth, making them suitable for low-light aquariums or shaded areas in brighter tanks. However, if placed in high-light conditions, it’s important to ensure they don’t become covered in algae, which can hinder their feeding.
