Pork Fish (Anisotremus virginicus)

The Porkfish (Anisotremus virginicus) is a vibrant species found in the tropical Atlantic waters. They inhabit reefs and rugged seabeds, feeding on small benthic shellfish and various invertebrates. Characterized by a silver body with uniform yellow stripes and two dark vertical bars near their eyes and gills, they need ample swimming space and thrive in schools. While adults can adapt to semi-aggressive, fish-only environments, juveniles are better suited with similarly sized, peaceful fish. Their diet includes a variety of meaty foods like mollusks, crustaceans, and occasionally smaller fish. Porkfish are not suitable for reef aquariums and should be kept away from delicate invertebrates.
