The Stoplight Parrot Terminal Phase (Sparisoma viride), a parrotfish species, is found in coral reefs in areas like Florida, the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, and as far as Brazil. This adaptable fish is notable for its sex-changing ability, common among its relatives. It usually measures between 1 to 1.5 feet in length but can sometimes reach up to 2 feet.

In terms of appearance, the Stoplight Parrotfish goes through distinct color changes between its initial and terminal phases. In the initial phase, where it can be male or female, its coloration is markedly different from the terminal phase, where it is definitively male. Notably, in the initial phase, this parrotfish can swiftly change the color of the scales on its underside from red to white.
