Red Lip Blenny (Ophioblennius atlanticus)

$24.99

Originating from the Caribbean Ocean, the Red Lip Blenny, commonly recognized as the Horse Face Blenny, features a body adorned in a harmonious blend of black and red hues, accented by yellow markings that seamlessly cloak its body and fins. One of its most striking attributes is the presence of four small branching horns adorning its head, while its distinctly blunt nose contributes to its unmistakable resemblance to a horse.

To provide an appropriate dwelling, it’s advisable to set up a well-established aquarium of 30 gallons or more, designed with various levels for swimming and abundant rock formations. Typically, its temperament remains placid unless its tank companions share a similar physique. It’s preferable to house this species individually, unless they constitute a mated pair in a more expansive tank. Displaying a tendency to perch and hop from one rock to another, the Horse Face Blenny tirelessly scours for microalgae to graze upon. However, it’s noteworthy that this blenny may engage in nipping at small-polyp stony corals and clam mantles.

Thriving best in established aquariums abundant in natural algae, the Horse Face Blenny’s diet can be enhanced with vegetable matter, Spirulina, and herbivore preparations to ensure optimal nutrition.
