The Lantern Basslet originates from the Caribbean, and is a great saltwater fish for those new to fishkeeping. Its body displays a blend of orange, black, and brown markings while maintaining an elongated form. Notably resistant to diseases, these fish should not coexist in an aquarium alongside small shrimp or fish.
For optimal care, a 30-gallon saltwater aquarium is recommended, complete with ample live rock that provides hiding spots. Ideally suited for beginners, the Lantern Bass can exhibit aggression towards smaller fish. It’s possible to introduce multiple specimens into the aquarium simultaneously, though care should be taken to do so. This species doesn’t exhibit a tendency to disturb corals or sessile invertebrates, rendering it a fitting choice for a reef aquarium that lacks small fish or shrimp.
Exhibiting remarkable resilience, the Lantern Bass thrives on a diet encompassing various chopped meaty items, brine and mysis shrimp enriched with vitamins, as well as flake foods.
