Spot Fin Butterfly (Chaetodon ocellatus)

$19.69

The Spotfin Reef Butterflyfish, Chaetodon ocellatus, is distinguished by a small, black spot at the end of its dorsal fin. Adult fish exhibit a white body contrasted with bright yellow pelvic and caudal fins, and a slender yellow stripe extending from the gill to the base of the pectoral fins. A striking black vertical stripe runs across the head, passing through the eye.

This species is known for its peaceful demeanor and is typically found in the shallow waters of coral reefs, either alone or in bonded pairs that often form lifelong partnerships. The Spotfin Reef Butterflyfish is diurnal, being most active during daylight hours. It is advisable to house them with other peaceful tankmates. However, they are not recommended for reef aquariums due to their dietary habits.
