The Zebra Turbo Snail, recognized by its white shell adorned with black stripes or a checkerboard pattern. They are algae-eaters and have an appetite for hair algae. Zebra Turbo snails also eat other algae types, from live rock and aquarium glass.
As a valuable addition to any aquarium cleanup crew, the Zebra Turbo Snail naturally inhabits crevices and holes in reefs. In a home aquarium, it requires plenty of hiding spots and expansive areas for grazing. Due to its active nature and tendency to dislodge rocks while foraging, many reef keepers ensure their aquarium’s rockwork is securely arranged.
If natural algae levels are low, supplementing its diet with dried seaweed is recommended. Maintaining adequate calcium levels is also crucial for the development of its shell. Like many invertebrates, the Zebra Turbo Snail is highly sensitive to copper-based medications and elevated nitrate levels. When introducing it to a new environment, the drip-acclimation method is advised for a smooth transition. Size is 2 to 3″
