The Queen Angelfish is a large, colorful saltwater fish known for its vibrant appearance. With a blue or greenish body adorned with yellow and blue accents and a bright yellow tail fin, it stands out among angelfish. Omnivorous by nature, it feeds on small invertebrates, zooplankton, and algae, commonly found in coral reefs.
This striking fish exhibits vibrant yellow and electric sapphire-blue highlights, an iridescent appearance, and elongated dorsal and pelvic fins. Reaching up to 18 inches in size, it requires a spacious tank of at least 250 gallons with hiding places and live rock. However, caution must be taken in reef tanks because they tend to nip at corals and exhibit aggression. Maintaining proper water parameters and diet is crucial for its well-being.
The Queen Angelfish’s diet should consist of Spirulina, marine algae, a high-quality angelfish diet, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. Feeding them at least three times daily is recommended.
As the Queen Angelfish grows, its coloration transitions from juvenile to sub-adult and finally to the distinctive adult stage.
