Description
Rainbow Parrot A member of the Scaridae family, the Rainbow Parrotfish (Scarus Guacamaia) is a species of fish. The species is the largest in the Atlantic and one of the largest in its family, measuring 3.9 feet in length, weighing 20 kilograms, and reaching a maximum age of 16 years. Overall, it is a greenish-brown color; The tongues are green and the fins are a dull orange. It has greenish-blue dental plates. Both sexes look the same.
The Rainbow Parrotfish can be found all the way from Bermuda through south Florida, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Venezuela in the western Atlantic. It lives at depths of 3–25 meters in mangroves, coral reefs, and seagrass beds in shallow waters.
