Florida Pipefish (Syngnathus floridae)

The Syngnathus floridae, commonly known as the Dusky Pipefish, is a marine species found in the Western Atlantic, from Bermuda and Chesapeake Bay to Panama. It is abundant in seagrass beds along coasts and is known to move offshore in colder months. This species is typically found at depths of 5 meters or less and is ovoviviparous, with males carrying the eggs in a brood pouch under the tail. The Dusky Pipefish primarily feeds on small grass shrimp and other small crustaceans.
