For optimal care of Threadfin Lookdowns, it is essential to provide them with a spacious aquarium offering ample room for free swimming. These fish have the potential to grow quite large and can quickly outgrow most standard home aquariums. Therefore, careful consideration is warranted before introducing them into your setup.

Threadfin Lookdowns also necessitate a sandy substrate in their tank, along with a consistent supply of live meaty food options such as crustaceans, crabs, clams, and even small benthic fish. While juveniles tend to congregate in small groups, as they mature, they typically transition to a solitary lifestyle. Notably, there are discernible color differences between juvenile and adult Lookdowns. They possess a distinctive appearance characterized by a flattened, silver body and a prominent forehead hump. These fish can attain a length of up to 18 inches.
