Midnight Blue Parrotfish

The Midnight Parrotfish, with its striking blue to deep purple hue, is a visually stunning addition to large marine aquariums. Originating from tropical reefs, it requires a spacious tank of at least 150 gallons, as it is an active swimmer and grows quite large.

While it feeds primarily on algae and small organisms, in a home aquarium, a diet of marine algae, spirulina, and vegetable-based foods, supplemented with frozen or dried preparations, is ideal. However, they are not considered reef-safe due to their potential to damage live corals while feeding.

Compatible tank mates include larger, non-aggressive fish like wrasses and tangs, but small or timid fish should be avoided. Midnight Parrotfish are best suited for experienced aquarists, given their specific care requirements and the need for maintaining high water quality.
